Tell Me About the Award:
The International Excellence Scholarship is one of the University of St Andrews’ flagship awards, created to recognize gifted overseas students with academic excellence and leadership potential. Recipients will also serve as Student Ambassadors, taking part in outreach activities and representing the university at various events.

All full-time undergraduate programs except:
- Medicine
- BA International Honours joint degree with William & Mary
Eligible Schools and Departments include:
- Arts (Art History, Classics, English, Philosophy, etc.)
- Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, etc.)
- Social Sciences (International Relations, Anthropology, Psychology, etc.)
- Business School
Type:
Merit-based undergraduate scholarship.
Who can Apply?
- Students with an Overseas fee status
- Applicants for a full-time undergraduate degree starting in 2026
- New entrants in their first year (including direct entry into year two)
- Students with proven academic excellence and strong leadership/motivation
(Transfers from another institution are not eligible)
How are Applicants Selected?
Selection is based on:
- Academic excellence and achievements
- Strength of Statement of Motivation (max 2000 characters)
- Two references (one academic, one personal non-family member)
- Potential contributions to the St Andrews community

All international (non-UK, non-EU) countries.

What is the Benefit of the Award?
- Scholarship value will be confirmed by December 2025
- Paid annually for the full duration of the undergraduate program (renewable if academic and ambassadorial responsibilities are met).

For the entire duration of the undergraduate program (renewable each year).
How to Apply:
- Apply for admission to a full-time undergraduate program at St Andrews.
- Wait for My application portal login (available 2 working days after course application).
- Complete the International Undergraduate Scholarships application form.
- Submit:
- Statement of Motivation (2000 characters)
- One academic reference (max 250 words)
- One personal reference (max 250 words)
