In an effort to revolutionize basic education throughout Nigeria, the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and DLN have formed a historic public-private partnership.
“Today at UBEC, we signed an important Public-Private Partnership with DLN to transform basic education in Nigeria,” stated Aisha Garba, the organization’s executive secretary. 47 million laptops and tablets will be given away for free by the federal and state governments to students and instructors in pre-primary, primary, and junior secondary schools.

She clarified that in addition to the devices, there would be regional hubs for device assembly and distribution, free data access to AI-assisted learning materials, and teacher training in collaboration with the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI). She claims that these hubs will boost the education sector while generating jobs and fostering local knowledge.
Garba underlined that the program is completely in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the National Policy on Education, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. According to her, the partnership demonstrates UBEC, the Presidency, the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, and other partners’ strong commitment to reducing the digital divide, expanding access, and improving the standard of basic education for all Nigerian children, regardless of where they live or their background.
Garba announced, “Today’s MOU marks another milestone in fulfilling our mandate at UBEC,” highlighting the Commission’s commitment to improving education through technologically driven solutions.
