The Youth Digital Health Champions (Y-DHC) program seeks to identify, profile, and connect dynamic young leaders who are actively shaping the digital health landscape across Africa. Champions will serve as role models, advocates, and collaborators in advancing digital health innovation, policy, and practice. The initiative aims to build a visible and impactful network that can inform policies, strengthen local innovation ecosystems, and amplify youth leadership across the continent.

The Africa CDC Youth Digital Health Champions (Y-DHC) Program 2025 is a flagship initiative under the Youth in Digital Health Network (YiDHN). It identifies and connects young African leaders driving digital health innovation, policy, research, and advocacy. Champions will serve as role models, advocates, and collaborators, helping shape policies, strengthen innovation ecosystems, and amplify youth leadership in health across Africa.

📌 Who can Apply?

  • Young people aged 18–35 years
  • Citizens of African Union member states (diaspora Africans are also eligible)
  • Proficient in English, French, Arabic, or Portuguese
  • Must be actively involved in digital health initiatives

📌 How are Applicants Selected?

Applications are assessed on:

  1. Leadership & Initiative (45%) – proven leadership in digital health
  2. Impact & Innovation (25%) – tangible results or potential for impact
  3. Motivation & Growth Potential (30%) – willingness to engage in YiDHN activities

📌 Which Countries Are Eligible?

All African Union member states + the African diaspora.

📌 Where will the Award be Taken?

The program is virtual and continental — with engagements through Africa CDC, YiDHN platforms, and select events such as the Africa HealthTech Summit (#AHTS2025).
