For the 2025–2026 academic year, the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) is inviting scholars, researchers, and policymakers to apply for its Research Fellowships Program. Rolling applications, reviewed three times yearly:

  • 1st Review: Deadline 15 September 2025 (Start: Dec 2025 – Aug 2026)
  • 2nd Review: Deadline 15 January 2026 (Start: Apr – Dec 2026)
  • 3rd Review: Deadline 15 May 2026 (Start: Aug 2026 – Apr 2027)

  • Graduate Research Fellowships (Short-term) – 3–6 months

Who can Apply?

  • Fresh graduates and postgraduates in law, social sciences, public policy, and allied fields (0–3 years experience)
  • Professionals with 2–3 years experience in relevant fields
  • PhD candidates and holders (including postdocs within last 3 years)
  • Senior scholars with PhD and 10+ years teaching/professional experience
  • Eminent scholars and distinguished professionals (invitation only)

How are Applicants Selected?

  • Open call: Shortlisting + interview by a committee led by the Dean (Research)
  • By invitation: For certain senior fellowships (University Research & Distinguished Fellowships)

Open to applicants of all nationalities

Where will the Award be Taken?

Primarily on-campus at NLSIU, Bangalore, India (remote in exceptional cases)

  • Postdoctoral Fellowships: 5
  • University Research Fellowships: 5
  • Distinguished University Fellowships: 5
