Researchers funded through this programme are required to transfer their research activities from their current location to an Eligible Research Body in Ireland. Open to all research disciplines that align with the strategic objectives of an eligible Irish Research Body.
Type:
Two applicant streams:
- Rising Stars – 5–15 years post-PhD
- Research Leaders – 16+ years post-PhD
Who can Apply?
For Rising Stars:
- PhD awarded between 2010–2020
- Independent research funding record
- MSc/PhD supervision experience
- Evidence of international research standing
For Research Leaders:
- PhD awarded in 2009 or earlier
- Full professorial or equivalent senior position
- Significant global research impact and leadership
- Strong history of securing competitive funding

- Host Research Body in Ireland must submit Expression of Interest (EoI)
- Eligibility checks & possible triage
- International expert peer review
- Interview with multidisciplinary panel

- If shortlisted, submit full proposal via SESAME in October 2025
