Uganda Higher Education Students Financing Scheme Application 2025/2026 Now Open. Ministry of Education and Sports – Uganda Call for students loan application for the academic year 2025/26. All eligible students are encouraged to apply for Higher Education Students’ Loans not later than 31st July 2025.

As Higher Education Students Financing Scheme is established by the Higher Education Students’ ‘tanding Amendment Act 2024 to administer the Students’ Loan Scheme. The Law mandates the Ministry of Iucation and Sports to provide Loans and Scholarships to Students who wish to pursue Higher Education in jands.

The objectives of the Higher Education Students’ Financing Scheme are: –

to increase equitable access to Higher Education in Uganda; i. to support highly qualified students to may not afford Higher Education;

ii. to support critical programmes for national development; No. Uganda Vocational

 Technical Assessment Board (WTAB) is to ensure regional balance in Higher Education services in Uganda with emphasis to the District Quota distribution of loans;

v. to create a revolving fund.

Who can Apply?

• One must be a Ugandan Citizen.
• Admitted to pursue an accredited course of study or programme of higher education (undergraduate diploma or degree programme).
• Admitted in an accredited Institution of higher learning, private chartered university or public university in Uganda.
• Have a financial need.
• An applicant must be joining in the first year or Continuing Student depending on the availability of resources.
• The Ministry in determining eligibility shall take into consideration district quota, gender, social economic needs and equity.

How to Apply:

The Ministry of Education and Sports therefore invites applications for study loans under the Students’ Loan Scheme from eligible Uganda students who have been admitted in their first under the listed Undergraduate Diploma and Degree programmes for the Academic Year 2025/26 Public Universities, Private Chartered Universities and the listed Other Tertiary Institutions(OTIs), ONLINE Application will commence on Wednesday 29th June 2025 at 00:00 hours local time the deadline for receiving applications is Thursday, 31st July, 2025 at 23:59 hours local time incomplete and late submitted applications shall not be processed.

What is the Benefit of Award?

i. The Students’ Loan shall cover tuition fees and functional fees. The loan shall also cover and Appliances for persons with disabilities, while research funds may be covered as and budget allows.

ii. Student loans shall strictly be awarded to students joining Higher Education Institutions in Year.

iii. The Loans will be awarded to applicants pursuing Undergraduate Diploma and Undergraduate Degree programmes only.
