Who Can Apply?
Applicants must:
- Be graduates of any university in or outside New Zealand
- Intend to enroll full-time for a PhD or already be enrolled for no more than 6 months at Victoria University of Wellington
- Have a strong academic record and excellent references or demonstrate potential for high-quality research
How Are Applicants Selected?
- Selection is based on academic merit
- Evaluation of research potential and alignment with faculty research interests
- Final decisions are made by the Victoria Research Scholarships Committee
- Applicants are notified 6–8 weeks after each deadline

- Indicate interest in the Doctoral Scholarship during the admission process
- Submit all required documents (transcripts, research proposal, references)
- Await selection recommendation from relevant School and Faculty
