Who can Apply?
There are three categories:
- Category I: ANSO Partner Fellowship
Senior researchers and management staff from science and education institutions outside mainland China (priority to ANSO member countries). - Category II: ANSO Visiting Scientist Fellowship
Assistant professors (including postdocs), associate professors, full professors, or comparable-level professionals from institutions outside mainland China. - Category III: CAS-ANSO Alumni Fellowship
Graduates of the CAS-TWAS, CAS Belt & Road Master’s, or CAS-ANSO Scholarship programs who are now working in S&T fields in Belt and Road regions.
How are Applicants Selected?
✅ Applications are reviewed by an expert panel. Selection is based on academic merit, quality of the research plan, potential for collaboration, and alignment with the program’s goals. A CAS host researcher must endorse and submit the application through official channels.
Which Countries Are Eligible?
🌍 All countries outside mainland China, with priority given to ANSO member countries and those in the Belt and Road region.
Where will the Award be Taken?
📍 Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) institutions and affiliated universities in China.
How Many Awards?
🔢 Not specified, but multiple fellowships will be awarded under the three categories based on merit and host capacity.
What is the Benefit of the Award?
💰 Generous funding including:
- Category I: RMB 10,000/week (pre-tax) + one-time round-trip travel subsidy
- Category II:
- Assistant Professors/Postdocs: RMB 15,000/month
- Associate Professors: RMB 25,000/month
- Full Professors: RMB 35,000/month
(All include a one-time round-trip travel subsidy)
- Category III: RMB 10,000/week (pre-tax) + round-trip travel subsidy
How Long Will the Award Last?

- 1–2 weeks (Categories I & III)
- 1–6 months (Category II)
All activities must be completed by December 31, 2026.
How to Apply:
📌 Follow these steps:
1) Applicants should contact and secure agreement from a qualified CAS host researcher affiliated with a CAS institution prior to application submission;
2) Complete all required materials specified in 3.1;
3) Applicants must submit their complete application package to their host researcher, who will be responsible for final submission through official channels.;
4) Submissions via non-approved methods (e.g., direct email) will not be considered;
5) Applicants should allow adequate time for their host researcher to complete the submission process before the application deadline;
6) Applications will undergo expert review. Final decisions will be communicated to applicants through their host researchers.
- Note: All funded activities under the 2025 CAS-ANSO Fellowship must be completed by December 31, 2026.
- Applicants may not simultaneously apply for both CAS PIFI Program and CAS-ANSO Fellowship.
- Applicants may only apply for one category of the CAS-ANSO Fellowship per application cycle.
- Applicants who have received sponsorship through the CAS PIFI Program in 2023, 2024, or 2025 are not eligible for CAS-ANSO Fellowship funding.
