King’s College London is proud to offer Commonwealth Shared Scholarships in partnership with the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC). These awards are jointly funded by King’s and the CSC to support talented students from eligible Commonwealth countries who would not otherwise be able to study in the UK.

The Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme (CSSS) is a fully funded postgraduate scholarship offered jointly by King’s College London and the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC), funded by the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office.
It supports academically excellent students from eligible low and middle-income Commonwealth countries who would otherwise be unable to afford to study in the UK.
The scholarship aims to equip scholars with advanced skills and knowledge to drive development and impact in their home countries.

Which Fields are Eligible?

Eligible campus-based, full-time Master’s programmes at King’s College London:

  • MSc Mental Health Studies
  • MSc Health Psychology
  • MSc Palliative Care
  • MRes Clinical Research

Distance-learning and part-time programmes are NOT eligible.

Who can Apply?

Applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of or have refugee status in an eligible Commonwealth country
  • Be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country
  • Be ready to start studies in September 2026
  • Hold a 2:1 honours degree or a 2:2 + relevant postgraduate qualification (e.g., a Master’s degree)
  • Not have studied or worked for more than 1 year in a high-income country
  • Be unable to afford UK study without the scholarship
  • Provide all required supporting documents before the deadlines
  • Meet KCL admission and English-language requirements
  • Be willing to return home after completing the program

Bangladesh, Belize, Botswana, Cameroon, Dominica, Eswatini, Fiji, Gabon, The Gambia, Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, India, Jamaica, Kenya, Kiribati, Lesotho, Malawi, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritius, Montserrat, Mozambique, Namibia, Nauru, Nigeria, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Rwanda, St. Helena, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Samoa, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Togo, Tonga, Tuvalu, Uganda, Vanuatu, Zambia.

2 awards for the 2026/27 academic year.

What is the Benefit of the Award?

This is a fully funded UK scholarship, covering:

  • Full tuition fees
  • Round-trip airfare to and from the UK
  • Monthly stipend (living allowance)
  • Warm clothing allowance
  • Thesis grant
  • Study travel grant
  • Contribution toward mandatory tuberculosis (TB) test
  • Child allowance for eligible single parents:
    • £622/month for the first child
    • £154/month for the second and third child (under 16)

How Long Will the Award Last?

For the full duration of the Master’s programme (typically 1 year full-time).

How to Apply:

Applicants must submit two separate applications:

1. Apply to the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC):

  • Complete the CSC online scholarship application
  • Deadline: 16:00 (GMT), 09 December 2025

2. Apply to King’s College London:

  • Submit an online admissions application for one of the approved KCL Master’s programmes
  • On the Funding screen, select Option 5 and type “CSSS2026”
  • Deadline: 12 January 2026

Application Fee Waiver (Optional):

  • Complete the Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Application Fee Waiver Form
  • Deadline: 02 January 2026
