The Fulbright African Research Scholar Program (ARSP) 2027–2028 is a prestigious U.S.-funded opportunity that supports African university faculty, administrators, and research institute professionals. It enables them to undertake advanced research or curriculum development at leading academic and research institutions in the United States.
Which Fields are Eligible?
- All academic disciplines are welcome.
- Research Grants: Postdoctoral research projects.
- Program & Curriculum Development Grants: Development of new courses, curricula, or academic programs.
- Special pathway: Notre Dame Visiting Scholar Award (sustainability, resilience, peacebuilding, conflict resolution, global health).

Who can Apply?
Applicants must:
- Be university faculty members, administrators, or research institute professionals.
- Hold a PhD (for Research Grants) or at least a Master’s degree (for Curriculum Development Grants).
- Demonstrate strong academic record and English proficiency.
- Submit a detailed project statement with bibliography.
- Preferably have at least 3 years of teaching experience.
- Not have visited the U.S. within the past 5 years.
- Show how the project will benefit their home institution upon return.
