About this Young African Leaders Program
The RLC-SA program is a legacy initiative of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) and operates from the University of South Africa’s Graduate School of Business Leadership. Since 2015, it has trained over 9,000 young leaders from 14 countries. The curriculum covers Business and Entrepreneurship, Civic Leadership, Public Management, Education, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), and Energy.
Participants engage in seven weeks of intensive online learning. The experience includes practical exposure to management tools, hands-on projects, and networking. After the program, alumni can access further support, collaboration opportunities, and competitive grants to implement community-impact projects.
Eligibility Criteria
- Aged between 18 and 35 years
- Citizen of Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Zambia, or Zimbabwe
- Proficient in English
- Demonstrated commitment to positive community impact
- Proven experience in Public Management, Business, Entrepreneurship, or Civic Leadership
- Willingness to participate in a seven-week virtual program
The program encourages applications from women, minority groups, young leaders with disabilities, people living with HIV/AIDS, rural and economically disadvantaged youth, and LGBTQIA+ advocates.
