In order to prevent registration problems and last-minute congestion, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has now encouraged candidates to generate their profile code in advance.
This guide will walk you through every step of the process if you intend to take the 2026 UTME or Direct Entry, from obtaining your NIN to properly creating your profile code and preventing errors that cause registration delays.
What Is a JAMB Profile Code?
A JAMB profile code is a special 10-character code created by JAMB that enables applicants to register for Direct Entry or the UTME.
You cannot purchase your JAMB ePIN, register at any CBT centre, or even continue with the admissions process without this code.
JAMB uses your profile code for all correspondence pertaining to registration, tests, and admission. It also connects your phone number, NIN, and personal information.
You need a National Identification Number (NIN) before you may create a JAMB profile code.
The NIMC database is currently the direct source of candidates’ biodata for JAMB. Your registration details will be incorrect if your NIN data is incorrect.

How to Generate a JAMB Profile Code for Registration in UTME 2026
No matter how ready you are, you cannot register for JAMB without this code. Here’s how to quickly and accurately generate your JAMB profile code:
#1. Verify Whether You Already Have a NIN
It’s crucial to see if you already have one before enrolling. Enter *346# on the phone number that was used to register for NIN in order to verify.
The screen will display your NIN. Never share it with the public; instead, save it or write it down securely. After that, generate your JAMB profile code.
#2. Sign up for NIN (if you don’t already have one):
Visit a NIMC enrolling center with legitimate identity documents, such as the following, if you have not received your NIN:
- Age declaration or birth certificate
- School ID card
- Voter’s card
- A driver’s license
- International Passport
- Certificate of origin
- ID card for employees (public or private sector)
Following the verification of these facts at the center, you will be able to complete the enrolment form, have your biometrics and photo taken, and receive a transaction slip.
Your NIN slip is issued following processing (which often takes a few days) once this has been verified.
#3.Now You Can Generate JAMB Profile Code
It’s simple to generate your JAMB profile code once you have your NIN.
From your own phone number, send an SMS.
For example:
- NIN “098765432101” (Substitute your own NIN for the number.)
- Forward it to either 55019 or 66019.
- Your 10-character JAMB profile code will be sent to you through SMS.
Make sure you use your own phone number while sending this SMS, and it needs to be active. The code cannot be altered once it has been generated; therefore, you must proceed with extreme caution.
Can I Create a Profile Code Without a Phone Number Associated with NIN?
No, you can’t. JAMB recommends that you go to NIMC to validate your NIN if it doesn’t have a phone number.
Following the preceding step-by-step procedure, create the profile code when this has been verified.
