With the distribution of ₦40 million in scholarship awards to 200 students from its host states in northern Nigeria, BUA Cement Plc has greatly increased its dedication to education and community development.
Each recipient of the scholarship programme, which was offered as part of BUA Cement’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, received ₦200,000 to aid in their academic endeavours.
With more beneficiaries and larger scholarship amounts than in previous years, the launch represents a continuance and expansion of the company’s long-standing involvement in education.
The three states where BUA Cement operates—Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara—were chosen to receive the scholarships.
Official reports state that Wamakko Local Government Area, the immediate host community of BUA Cement’s Sokoto plant, provided 50 beneficiaries in addition to 50 students chosen from each of the three states.
