Cobham-Ultra UK Scholarships for Undergraduate Applicants offers awards to Engineering and Environment students studying on one of the following programmes of £3,500 during the first year of their Undergraduate degree only.

Tell Me About The Award:

The Cobham-Ultra UK Scholarship is a competitive financial award for outstanding UK/Home undergraduate students. It provides £3,500 cash to support the first year of study in eligible programmes, which can be used for learning resources, living expenses, research, or activities that enhance the university experience. Payment is made in three installments: 25% in November 2026, 25% in February 2027, and 50% in May 2027. The scholarship is non-renewable and applies only to Year 1.

  • UK/Home students (includes Jersey, Guernsey, Channel Islands, Ireland, Isle of Man)
  • Applicants must apply and enrol in an eligible full-time undergraduate programme at the Newcastle Upon Tyne campus starting September 2026
  • Must choose Northumbria University as firm choice by 30 June 2026
  • Must meet all academic entry requirements
  • Must be self-funded and registered with a Student Finance provider (SFE, SFW, SFNI, or SAAS)
  • Foundation Year progressors are eligible
  • Applicants must meet at least one of the following:
    • From a Black, Asian, or Minority Ethnic (BAME) background
    • Declared a physical or mental health condition, long-term illness, or learning difference
    • Live in a neighbourhood with a low progression rate to higher education

  • Competitive selection based on an online written application
  • Applicants answer: “How will this Award support your aspirations to succeed in Higher Education?” (max 500 words)
  • Assessed on strength of response against marking criteria
