The Mälardalen University (MDU) Scholarship Programme offers a limited number of full-tuition scholarships for outstanding international students applying for a Master’s programme at MDU as their first choice.

The scholarship covers 100% of the tuition fee for the entire program, provided the student follows the normal study plan (minimum 22.5 credits per semester).

It aims to support academically excellent students from outside the EU/EEA/Switzerland who are required to pay tuition fees.

Applicants must:

  • Be from non-EU/EEA/Switzerland countries
  • Be fee-paying students
  • Apply for a Master’s program at Mälardalen University as their first choice

  • Meet academic and English proficiency requirements
  • Cannot be from the 12 Swedish development cooperation countries:
    Bangladesh, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia
    (These applicants should apply for the Swedish Institute Scholarship, not MDU’s scholarship)

  • 100% tuition fee coverage for the entire Master’s program
  • Valid as long as the student follows normal study load:
    • Minimum 22.5 credits per semester
    • Minimum 45 credits per academic year
  • Does NOT cover living expenses, travel, visa, accommodation, or materials
  • Scholarship is cancelled if student’s fee-paying status changes during the program

How Long Will the Award Last?

For the full duration of the Master’s program, typically 2 years, provided the student maintains the required study pace.

  2. Select Mälardalen University (MDU) as your first choice.
  3. Upload all required documents:
    • Transcripts
    • Degree certificate
    • Proof of English proficiency (IELTS/TOEFL)
    • CV/other program requirements
  4. Pay the application fee before the deadline.
  5. Download and complete the MDU Scholarship Application Form (PDF).
  6. Upload the scholarship form along with your other documents on universityadmissions.se before February 2, 2026.
  7. Wait for notification of results (sent between March 27–31, 2026).
