The Master Mind Scholarship is offered by the Flemish Ministry of Education and Training to outstanding international students pursuing a master’s degree in Flanders or Brussels, Belgium.
Benefits include:
- €10,000 grant per academic year
- Full tuition fee waiver for the master’s programme
- Administrative enrolment fee only (€136.50/year)
- Covers living expenses, accommodation, and insurance partially through the grant
Duration:
- 1 academic year for 60 ECTS master’s programmes
- 2 academic years for 120 ECTS master’s programmes
Which Fields are Eligible?
- Any master’s programme offered at participating Flemish universities, except:
- Preparatory programmes
- Bridging programmes
- Distance learning programmes

- Postgraduate (60–120 ECTS)
Who Can Apply?
- International students from all countries (except Russian citizens)
- Must have a high academic record (high GPA)
- Previous degree must be obtained outside Flanders
- Applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate proficiency:
- TOEFL iBT ≥ 94
- IELTS ≥ 7
- Cambridge CPE ≥ C2
- Or completion of a prior English-taught programme in certain countries
Disqualifying conditions:
- Current enrolment at a Flemish higher education institution (except for preparatory programme candidates)
- Cannot combine with other Flemish government scholarships or Erasmus Mundus scholarships
How are Applicants Selected?
- Application Submission: Submit a complete application for an eligible master’s programme including the KU Leuven Scholarships & Master Mind Candidacy Form by 15 January 2026.
- Nomination: KU Leuven master’s programmes nominate eligible students; up to 20 students are preselected.
- Motivational Video: Preselected students submit a 1-minute motivational video for final consideration.
- Final Selection: Flemish government Selection Committee evaluates all nominees; results announced end of May / early June 2026.

- KU Leuven nominates 20 candidates
How to Apply:
- Apply for a participating master’s programme at KU Leuven.
- Submit the Master Mind Candidacy Form in the application portal.
- Register scholarship candidacy via KU Leuven’s online tool.
- If nominated, submit a 1-minute motivational video.
- Complete the Flemish government’s online application if selected for the next phase.
