Karolinska Institutet offers scholarships to excellent students who have been admitted to one of our global master’s programmes. The scholarship is distributed across all the global master’s programmes, and the competition is high. In 2025, we received 687 applications, and 10 students were offered a scholarship.

When is the Application Deadline:
- 2 February 2026 – Deadline to submit the mandatory CV form via your University Admissions account
- 9 February – 25 February 2026 – Scholarship application period
- 27 April 2026 – Scholarship awardees notified
- 30 April 2026 – Deadline to accept the scholarship offer
Tell Me About The Award:
The KI Global Master’s Scholarship is a highly competitive tuition-fee scholarship offered by Karolinska Institutet, one of the world’s leading medical universities. The scholarship is awarded to academically outstanding international students who have been admitted to one of KI’s Global Master’s Programmes for the 2026 intake. Each programme awards only one scholarship per year, making it one of the most selective opportunities in Europe.
Which Fields are Eligible?
All Global Master’s Programmes at Karolinska Institutet except:
- MSc in Molecular Techniques in Life Science
- MSc in Biostatistics and Data Science
(These programmes are supported through KTH scholarships, not KI.)
Eligible programmes include fields such as:
- Public Health
- Global Health
- Bioentrepreneurship
- Health Informatics
- Translational Physiology & Pharmacology
- Toxicology
- Nutrition Science
- Epidemiology
- And other KI Global Master’s programmes taught in English
Type:
- Tuition-fee scholarship (does NOT cover living expenses)
Who Can Apply?
Applicants must:
- Be tuition-fee paying (non-EU/EEA citizens)
- Have applied to a KI Global Master’s Programme starting in 2026
- Have paid the application fee by 2 February 2026
- Be first-year students
- Meet all entry and documentation requirements for the chosen programme
How Are Applicants Selected?
Selection is based on a comprehensive evaluation of:
- Academic background
- Work experience
- Research experience
- Statement of Intent
- Supporting documents submitted via University Admissions
Each programme selects the highest-merit applicant, and if two applicants tie, KI uses a lottery selection.
Which Countries Are Eligible?
- All non-EU/EEA countries (international fee-paying students)
Where Will the Award be Taken?
- Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden
How Many Awards?
- Approximately 1 scholarship per Master’s programme per year
What is the Benefit of the Award?
- Full tuition fee coverage for the entire duration of the Master’s programme
(Does NOT cover travel, accommodation, or living expenses.)
How Long Will the Award Last?
- For the full duration of the chosen 2-year Global Master’s Programme (as long as academic requirements are maintained).
How to Apply:
- Apply for a Global Master’s Programme at KI via University Admissions.
- Pay the application fee by 2 February 2026.
- Submit the CV form before the deadline.
- Apply for the scholarship during 9–25 February 2026 through the link that will be published on the KI scholarship webpage.
- Ensure all required documents are complete—late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
