The Schulich Leader Scholarships are Canada’s largest and most prestigious undergraduate STEM scholarships. The program awards 100 full undergraduate scholarships each year across 20 top Canadian universities.
For 2026, the University of Guelph has officially joined the program, giving students a new world-class institution to study engineering, science, technology, and mathematics.

The scholarship targets entrepreneurial, innovative, and high-impact young leaders who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, creativity, charisma, and financial need.
Over 350,000 students are eligible annually, but only 100 receive the award, making it one of the most competitive scholarships in Canada.

Eligible STEM programs at the University of Guelph include:

  • Engineering
  • Computer Science
  • Data Science / Data Analytics
  • Mathematics
  • Biological & Physical Sciences
  • Any STEM-related degree approved by the Schulich Foundation

Applicants must:

  • Be nominated by their high school
  • Be graduating from a Canadian high school (international students in Canadian schools are eligible)

How Long Will the Award Last?

  • Four years (duration of the undergraduate degree), subject to maintaining academic eligibility.

How to Apply:

Step 1 — Be Nominated

Your high school must nominate you between September 2025 – January 28, 2026.
Each school can nominate only one student per year.

Step 2 — Submit Scholarship Application

Nominated students must complete the official online application by February 18, 2026, including:

  • Personal essays
  • Academic records
  • Evidence of leadership & innovation
  • Community involvement
  • Personal statement
