The BIG (“Backing Invisible Geniuses”) Program provides full tuition, assistance with living costs, a stipend for academic pursuits outside the classroom, and additional benefits including social events, networking opportunities, internships, and research placements.
Which Fields are Eligible?
- Undergraduate programs in the School of Mathematics at the University of Edinburgh:
- BSc Applied Mathematics
- BSc Mathematics
- BSc Mathematics and Statistics
- MMath Applied Mathematics (direct entry to second year only)
- MMath Mathematics (direct entry to second year only)
Type:
- Fully funded scholarship (tuition + living costs + stipend + other academic support)
Who Can Apply?
- Students from any country
- Must have earned a gold, silver, or bronze medal in one of the following international science Olympiads:
- International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO)
- International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI)
- International Physics Olympiad (IPhO)
- Romanian Master of Mathematics (RMM)
- European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad (EGMO) – gold or silver only
- Must be applying for full-time admission to eligible undergraduate programs at the University of Edinburgh
- Not available for students already on program or studying mathematics within another school at the University
