- Hold an academic bachelor’s degree in one of the following:
- Behavioural sciences (psychology, sociology)
- Political and social sciences
- Mathematical or statistical sciences
- Economics, transport economics
- Transport/traffic planning, urban planning, or geography
- Engineering (transport or civil)
- Have obtained at least a “distinction” grade in their previous degree.
- Be a national and resident of one of the 29 VLIR-UOS eligible countries.
- Be under 35 years old (as of January 1, 2026).
- Demonstrate strong motivation and a commitment to applying their knowledge to real-world development issues.
- Have sufficient English proficiency, proven by one of the following:
- IELTS (6.5), TOEFL iBT (79), Duolingo (120), or Cambridge C1.
How are Applicants Selected?
Applicants are selected through a competitive, merit-based process based on:
- Motivation and potential to contribute to societal change.
- Professional experience relevant to transportation or road safety.
- Gender and regional balance (female candidates strongly encouraged).
- Commitment to sustainable development in their home country.
Final selection and scholarship offers are made between May and June 2026.
