The Government of Mauritius invites applications for the Mauritius Africa Scholarship Scheme 2026, designed to support bright and deserving students from African Union and African Commonwealth member countries.
This fully funded program provides opportunities to pursue undergraduate, MPhil, MPhil/PhD, and PhD studies at recognized public universities in Mauritius.

Which Fields are Eligible?

All full-time, on-campus academic programs (Diploma, Degree, MPhil, MPhil/PhD, or PhD) offered by public Higher Education Institutions in Mauritius are eligible.
Applicants must have already applied for admission to one of these institutions before submitting their scholarship application.

Who Can Apply?

Eligible applicants must:

  • Be citizens and residents of an African Union or African Commonwealth country.
  • Be over 18 and under 26 years old as of 1 January 2027 for undergraduate programs.
  • Be under 40 years old as of 1 January 2027 for MPhil, MPhil/PhD, or PhD programs.
  • Have applied for a full-time, on-campus program at a recognized public university in Mauritius for the 2026 academic year.

How Are Applicants Selected?

Applications are processed through the official Nominating Agency in each applicant’s country (usually within the Ministry of Education).
Each agency may endorse up to 15 candidates across undergraduate and postgraduate categories.
Final selection is made by the Ministry of Tertiary Education, Science and Research of Mauritius.

Where Will the Award Be Taken?

📍 Mauritius — at any recognized public Higher Education Institution listed in the official guidelines.
