Master’s programs at the Faculty of Science (Leuven campus):
- Master of Astronomy and Astrophysics
- Master of Biology
- Master of Biophysics, Biochemistry and Biotechnology
- Master of Chemistry
- Master of Geography (only for KU Leuven home institution students)
- Master of Geology (only for KU Leuven home institution students)
- Master of Mathematics
- Master of Physics
- Master of Statistics and Data Science
- Master of Sustainable Development

Who can Apply?
✅ International students from all nationalities
✅ Must hold a Bachelor’s degree from a non-Belgian university
✅ Must not have studied or worked at KU Leuven before
✅ Must not already hold a Master’s or PhD degree
✅ Must meet KU Leuven’s admission requirements for the chosen program
✅ Must demonstrate academic excellence (equivalent to Distinction or higher)
✅ Must be fluent in English:
- TOEFL iBT: minimum 94, with required subscores
- IELTS: minimum 7.0 overall, with subscores of at least 6.0
✅ Must be willing to act as an ambassador for the Science@Leuven community
How are Applicants Selected?
Selection is multi-step and highly competitive:
- Eligibility Screening – Only students admitted to eligible Master’s programs are considered.
- Program Ranking – Each program director ranks candidates based on academic merit and motivation.
- Committee Evaluation – The Science@Leuven Fund Committee reviews top candidates.
- Online Interviews – Around 8 shortlisted applicants are interviewed.
- Final Selection – The Fund’s Board awards scholarships based on academic excellence, English proficiency, and motivation.

💰 Allowance: €12,000 per academic year (up to 2 years)
🎓 Tuition Fee Waiver:
- Non-EEA students pay a reduced fee of €1,651.10 (2025–2026 rate)
- EEA students do not receive a fee waiver but benefit from the allowance
📚 Duration: Up to two consecutive academic years, renewable based on strong first-year performance

How Long Will the Award Last?
⏳ Up to two academic years (renewable upon excellent academic results).

- Apply for Admission to your chosen Master’s program via the KU Leuven online application tool.
- Upload required documents (transcripts, course descriptions, recommendation letters, motivation letter).
- Once your Master’s application is submitted, you’ll receive a confirmation email.
- Apply for the Science@Leuven Scholarship, uploading the confirmation email as proof.
- Complete both required forms:
