The American University of Beirut (AUB) Mastercard Foundation Scholarship 2026 is a fully funded program designed to prepare young, talented, and socially committed individuals from Africa and Lebanon to become agents of change in their communities.
Through the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, selected candidates will receive full financial support to pursue PhD studies at AUB, along with opportunities for mentorship, leadership training, community service, and civic engagement.
The scholarship empowers graduates to lead transformative initiatives that address critical challenges in their home countries and across the African continent.

PhD scholarships are open for Spring 2025–26 in the following fields:

- Biomedical Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Electrical and Computer Engineering
- Environmental and Water Resources Engineering

Who Can Apply?
Applicants must:
- Be citizens of countries on the African continent, or refugees living in Africa
- Be 35 years old or younger
- Have a strong academic record in their previous degree
- Demonstrate leadership potential and a commitment to community service
- Show financial need that exceeds available resources
- Be committed to attending all workshops and training sessions under the Scholars Program
- Demonstrate Readiness for University Studies in English (RUSE) through one of the following tests:
- AUB-EN test
- TOEFL iBT
- IELTS (Academic)
- GRE (Verbal)
- GMAT (Verbal)
- DUOLINGO English Test (DET)

Step 2: Under the Financial Opportunities section, select “Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program.”
Step 3: (For Master’s applicants only – not required for PhD) Complete the AUB Financial Aid Application, which becomes available 1–3 working days after submitting your graduate application.
