The Legislative Mentorship Initiative (LMI) Fellowship, founded by Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, CFR, is a leadership development programme designed to equip young Nigerians with the knowledge, skills, and ethics required for effective participation in public service, particularly in the legislature.

Open to all disciplines — applicants from diverse academic and professional backgrounds are welcome, especially those interested in leadership, governance, policy, and public service.

Who can Apply?

Applicants must:

  • Be citizens of Nigeria.
  • Be between 21 and 35 years old.
  • Hold at least a Degree or HND from a recognized institution.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership potential and a record of community or societal service.
  • Show fluency in English, creativity, and innovation.
  • Exhibit patriotism, integrity, and commitment to national development.

How are Applicants Selected?

Selection is based on:

  • The strength of the personal statement and CV.
  • A one-minute application video introducing the applicant and explaining why they should be selected.
  • Evidence of leadership experience and community impact.

Only Nigerian citizens are eligible to apply.

Where will the Award be Taken?

Nigeria — the programme includes residential training, internships, and virtual engagement sessions within legislative and public institutions.
