Tell Me About The Award:
The Eiffel Excellence Scholarship (run by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs) helps French higher-education institutions attract top international students to selective Master’s and PhD programmes. It provides a generous monthly allowance, travel support and other services to help recipients study in France.

Type:
Postgraduate scholarship — Master’s level (M1/M2/engineering) and Doctoral level. Applications are submitted by French institutions on behalf of candidates.
Who can Apply?
- Foreign nationals (French nationals are not eligible).
- Candidates must secure admission (or conditional admission) to a full-time Master’s or PhD programme at a French institution that participates in Eiffel.
- Age guidance (campaign-specific): typically applicants are expected to be in their late 20s for Master’s and up to their early/mid-30s for PhD — confirm exact age ceilings in the 2026 regulations.
- Note: only applications submitted by French higher-education institutions are accepted; you must be nominated by the institution.
How are Applicants Selected?
- Shortlisting and selection are performed by the French institution and the Ministry via Campus France, based on academic excellence, suitability for the field, and the institution’s priorities. Final results are published centrally.

- Open to applicants from all countries (selection and nomination handled by French institutions).
Where will the Award be Taken?
- At the French higher-education institution that nominated the candidate (study period must take place mainly in France).
How Many Awards?
- Not publicly fixed — allocations depend on participating institutions and the annual campaign. Check with the institution you apply to for available nominations.
What is the Benefit of the Award?
- Master’s level: monthly allowance (approximately €1,200), plus additional services (international airfare, domestic travel assistance, insurance, help finding accommodation, cultural activities).
- Doctoral level: monthly allowance (approximately €2,100), plus the same additional services.
- Other supports and exact amounts/duration depend on the award conditions set for the campaign.
How Long Will the Award Last?
- Masters: up to 12 months (M2 entrants), up to 24 months (M1 entrants), up to 36 months for engineering programmes (varies).
- Doctorate: typically 6–36 months, depending on the doctoral plan and partner arrangements.
How to Apply:
- Secure admission (or conditional admission) to a qualifying Master’s or PhD programme at a French institution.
- Inform the international admissions office of that institution that you wish to be considered for the Eiffel scholarship.
- The French institution prepares and submits the Eiffel application files (only institutions may submit).
- Follow any institution-specific instructions and provide the documents they request (CV, transcripts, research plan, motivation, proof of admission, language info).
- Deadlines are absolute—work with the institution early so they can include your file before 8 Jan 2026.
